Resident Assistants
The expectation of our Resident Assistants is to FOLLOW OUR MISSION STATEMENT. This is accomplished through completing the educational process mandated by the state, to preferrably hold a certified nursing assistant (CNA) license and Libby's House mandatory attendance requirement at the Alzheimer's Association Dementia Training Specialist Course.
But this is just the beginning. As a strong believer in staff development, we additionally have monthly in-services on topics that are relevant to the current resident group in our community. We utilize many of the local health care professionals to come in to teach about subjects such as lifting techniques, communication issues, specific disease processes, death and dying, and much more.
Our staff goes through a very comprehensive orientation process. Mentors (seasoned professionals in CBRF resident cares) pair with a new person to assure continuity of care as well as comfort for the new staff member (and our residents). Routine meetings, evaluations and opportunities to ask questions are scheduled throughout this process. WHY? Upon completion of training, Libby's House has extremely qualified, professional and caring staff which can be called upon at all hours to go above and beyond and find satisfaction in their performance. Just as we strive for residents to meet with success, I want that for "my resident assistants". I know they are front line and I respect their diligent work. Being called to this work, and doing it with heart and soul, takes a special gift.
